destination

Prickwillow (3 miles) has a Pumping
Station museum.
Stretham Old Engine (5 miles)
is a beam engine of the early condensation type, installed
in 1831 for draining the fens.
Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
(4 miles) attracts ducks and swans in winter and waders
in spring and summer.
Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve (6
miles). The last remaining undrained portion of the Fens.
Anglesey Abbey (14 miles) has
an interesting interior and lovely gardens in the biggest
area set to lawn in the country.
Newmarket (14 miles) is the
home of horseracing, with the Horse Museum and the National
Stud.
Oxbrugh Hall (18 miles) is everyone's
idea of a Robin Hood castle with turrets and moat and drawbridge,
but this is for real: 500 years old, not a Disney concoction!
Bury St. Edmunds (24 miles)
is a town with historic buildings including a hotel made
by Dickens. The ruins of the Abbey are set in a beautiful
park.
King's Lynn (26 miles) was once
a notable port for the region and has many historic buildings
and two outstanding churches.
Sandringham House (33 miles),
is one of the homes of the Royal Family set in beautiful
grounds. The chapel should be visited. |

Air Displays
Duxford
(21 miles) is an old R.A.F. station hosting the famous aviation
and military museum, which includes a walk-in Concorde,
and gives frequent flying displays.
From Cambridge there is a free bus to Duxford.

R.A.F Mildenhall (11 miles) The
U.S.A.A.F. gives a flying display annually.
Old Warden Aerodrome (39 miles)
is a museum of early aircraft with occasional flying displays.
Train Services
As well as to Cambridge and London there are services to King's
Lynn, Bury St Edmunds, Peterborough (for the North), Norwich,
Harwich, for departure by ship to the Continent.
